Frequently asked questions about pregnancy care

When should I book the first visit after a positive pregnancy test?
+
Best as soon as possible after the positive test — ideally between weeks 6 and 8 of pregnancy. An early ultrasound will confirm the proper location of the pregnancy (rule out ectopic pregnancy), accurately determine gestational age and detect foetal heart activity. It is worth registering the pregnancy by week 10 — this entitles you to the "For life" benefit (1,000 PLN).
What does the I trimester package for 2,300 PLN include?
+
The I trimester package includes: 2 consultations with ultrasound up to 10 weeks, pregnancy registration + opening the pregnancy record card, I trimester prenatal screening at 11–13+6 weeks with free β-hCG and PAPP-A, combined test assessment, full set of tests: complete blood count (×2), urinalysis (×2), TSH, fasting glucose, blood group + Rh, toxoplasmosis, rubella, CMV, HBsAg, HCV, syphilis, HIV, LBC cytology.
What does the II trimester package for 2,200 PLN include?
+
The II trimester package: 3 consultations with ultrasound, II trimester prenatal screening at 18–22 weeks, breast ultrasound, internist consultation, tests: complete blood count (×3), urinalysis (×3), anti-Rh antibodies, OGTT (75 g glucose tolerance test).
What does the III trimester package for 2,700 PLN include?
+
The III trimester package: 4 consultations with ultrasound, III trimester ultrasound at 28–32 weeks, pregnancy ultrasound after 32 weeks, CTG, internist consultation, tests: complete blood count (×4), urinalysis (×4), repeat HBsAg, HCV, WR, HIV, GBS culture (Group B Strep) at 35–37 weeks.
How much does complete pregnancy care cost?
+
The full package of all three trimesters costs 7,200 PLN (2,300 + 2,200 + 2,700). It covers all required consultations, ultrasounds, mandatory screenings and a full set of tests from week 6 to delivery. Payment is collected separately for each trimester — you don't have to pay everything at once.
Is NIPT included in the package?
+
No, NIPT (Harmony or Panorama) is an additional test paid separately. Prices range from 1,960 PLN for basic Harmony to 2,572.50 PLN for Panorama with the full microdeletion panel. NIPT is not mandatory: the packages include the standard I trimester screening (PAPP-A + ultrasound), which has ~95% accuracy. NIPT may be added for maximum reassurance.
Which doctor performs the prenatal screenings?
+
I trimester screening (11–13+6 weeks) is performed by two FMF-certified doctors: Paweł Bartnik and Natalia Oliinyk.

II trimester screening (18–22 weeks) and III trimester ultrasound (28–32 weeks) are performed only by Paweł Bartnik.

Khrystyna Zamnyfist provides pregnancy care as an obstetrician-gynaecologist, but screenings are done by Bartnik or Oliinyk.
Can I choose a different doctor for each visit?
+
Yes — you choose your doctor at the first visit, and they will guide you throughout the whole pregnancy. This ensures continuity of care — the doctor knows your history from the very beginning. For prenatal screenings (if your primary doctor is Khrystyna Zamnyfist), the visit is transferred to Bartnik or Oliinyk.
Can I pay for the package in instalments?
+
Each trimester package is paid separately — you don't have to pay the full 7,200 PLN at once. The I trimester package (2,300 PLN) is paid at the beginning, II trimester (2,200 PLN) — in week 13, III trimester (2,700 PLN) — in week 27. This makes payment comfortable.
Do you issue VAT invoices for insurance?
+
Yes — we issue VAT invoices upon request. Many private health packages (Medicover, LUX MED, Allianz, Signal Iduna, AXA, Cigna) partially cover the cost of pregnancy care. Check the details with your insurance agent — we will provide the full set of documents for reimbursement.
What is the karta ciąży (pregnancy record card)?
+
The karta ciąży (pregnancy record card) is a mandatory document that describes the course of pregnancy, tests, ultrasounds and consultations. We open it at the first visit. The patient receives a paper version (to take to the hospital) and has access to an electronic version online. This document is required by every admissions ward on the day of delivery.
Can I choose the hospital for delivery?
+
Yes — Poland allows free choice of hospital for delivery (NFZ or commercial). Aurora Medical does not run its own maternity ward, but our doctors will help you choose a suitable hospital in Warsaw, prepare the full documentation and pregnancy record card. If needed — they will refer you to a specific specialist for the delivery.
How long does one consultation last?
+
The first consultation is about 60 minutes. Follow-up visits — 30–45 minutes. This allows enough time to discuss every issue in detail, review test results and perform the ultrasound without rushing.
How often should I attend visits?
+
According to PTGiP standards:
I and II trimester — every 4 weeks
From week 28 — every 2 weeks
From week 36 — every week

For complicated pregnancies (diabetes, hypertension, twin pregnancy), visits are more frequent, as recommended by the doctor.

Pregnancy care in Warsaw — complete care in one place

Aurora Medical — a private gynaecology clinic in central Warsaw (Wola, ul. Kasprzaka 7/U8), where we provide pregnancy care according to the standards of the Polish Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (PTGiP) and the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) recommendations. Care is provided by three doctors — Khrystyna Zamnyfist, Paweł Bartnik and Natalia Oliinyk — two of whom hold an active FMF certificate.

Clear trimester packages — the key advantage

Instead of paying for each consultation, test and ultrasound separately, we offer three fixed packages with a full list of services:

  • I trimester — 2,300 PLN (weeks 1–13): 2 consultations with ultrasound, pregnancy registration, I trimester screening with PAPP-A, 13 types of tests
  • II trimester — 2,200 PLN (weeks 14–26): 3 consultations with ultrasound, II trimester screening, breast ultrasound, OGTT, internist consultation
  • III trimester — 2,700 PLN (weeks 27–40): 4 consultations with ultrasound, III trimester ultrasound, CTG, GBS culture, repeat infection tests

Full pregnancy care package — 7,200 PLN for all 9 months. Paid in instalments — at the start of each trimester.

Standards of care in Poland

Pregnancy care in Poland is regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Health of 16 August 2018 on the organisational standard of perinatal care. It specifies the minimum number of visits, the scope of tests in each trimester and the mandatory ultrasounds. At Aurora Medical we comply with these standards and often exceed them — especially in prenatal diagnostics.

FMF certificate — a key advantage

Fetal Medicine Foundation — a London-based foundation led by Prof. Kypros Nicolaides, a world authority in foetal medicine. Only a doctor with an active FMF certificate can properly perform and interpret the I trimester prenatal screening and calculate the risk of aberrations according to the international algorithm. The certificate requires annual audit. At our clinic, the certificate is held by Paweł Bartnik and Natalia Oliinyk.

Distribution of screenings between doctors

  • I trimester screening (11–13+6 weeks) — Paweł Bartnik or Natalia Oliinyk
  • II trimester screening (18–22 weeks) — only Paweł Bartnik
  • USG III trimesteru (28–32 weeks) — Paweł Bartnik

If your primary doctor is Khrystyna Zamnyfist, the visit is transferred to Bartnik or Oliinyk for the screening. Details — on the prenatal screenings page.

Additional tests — outside the package

If you want maximum reassurance — additional tests are available (paid separately):

  • NIPT (Harmony, Panorama) — non-invasive prenatal DNA test from blood from week 10, accuracy >99%
  • Thrombophilia (Leiden, MTHFR) — crucial for recurrent miscarriages and IVF
  • BRCA1/2 — for family history of cancer
  • Preconception panel — carrier status for 600+ genetic conditions
  • Karyotype — for recurrent miscarriages

Why start with us

  • Clear pricing — no extra bills or surprises
  • Physiotherapist on-site — przygotowanie do porodu i mięśnie dna miednicy
  • Lab on-site — ALAB sample collection point on the premises
  • FMF certificate — the international standard in prenatal diagnostics
  • Fast appointments — within a few days, also Saturdays and Sundays
